Tastes of North Africa spice up Exeter
Situated on Exeter’s historic and
beautiful Exeter Cathedral Green, Al Farid brings not only authentic dishes from Morocco and Southern Spain to the table but
also a unique flavour of North African culture.
Al Farid consists a tapas/café bar downstairs, which creates a relaxed and romantic candle lit atmosphere
with low tables and cushions. The décor includes intricately carved North African furniture, brass ornaments, rugs and other
decorations.
Upstairs in the main restaurant area, there is extra seating in a more formal setting with tables and
chairs but the atmosphere and décor is similar to the tapas bar.
Specialities range from mixed grills cooked on skewers to Moroccan pastries and potatoes.
Another traditional feature of the restaurant is the Shisha or hubble bubble pipe. It is a water cooled
pipe with which visitors can smoke a relaxing flavoured tobacco after their meal.
Al Farid is a traditional Moroccan restaurant with a Moroccan chef. The atmosphere is based on a Moroccan
bazaar. A lot of the furnishings come from Marrakesh including the plates and soft furnishings.
Edmond Davari designed the restaurant himself with the intention of making his customers feeling as if
they were abroad when they entered Al Farid.
Al Farid's is one of our favourite restaurants in Exeter as it offers very good atmosphere, similar to
the atmosphere found in parts of India namely Rajistan. Also the food, service and Shisha is exquisite. AL Farid's

Spanish Tapas-style bar and restaurant
Cohiba is another of Exeter’s answers
to authentic foreign cuisine. Cohiba has the relaxing, non-intimidating atmosphere you would expect from a Spanish tapas bar,
with subtle décor and unobtrusive music.
There is a choice of comfortable sofa style seating for a more cosy ambience or tables for large parties.
Situated in Exeter's South Street, Cohiba offers an extremely wide range of different tapas with special
offers for lunchtime and evening diners
We have choosen this particular restaurant in order to promote the fact that we would like to embrace
other cultures and invite them to do so under our society. As for the ambience, it is truly very cosy with the soft
lighting and comfy chairs. We liked the food also, its a perfect place for a meal with some friends. Cohiba
